Dailymotion is another video hosting platform in the likes of YouTube and Viddler. An online tool made in France, it hosts music videos, TV shows, short movies as well as extreme and funny videos.
This user-friendly tool allows browsing and uploading of videos. A search system is in place that allows people to search via tags, channels and user-created groups.
In addition to the browsing system, its other great features are the webcam and video player. Through the embedded player, videos can easily be integrated on a user’s blog or website. Users can also follow and recommend videos, add friends and subscribe to channels they prefer.
It’s also easy to get feedback on the site. Video statistics are provided so users can find out the number of people who viewed their videos and which ones are the most popular.
HD quality videos can be enjoyed on Dailymotion. While this was originally made available to motionmaker users only, the company eventually made it available to regular users as well.
Dailymotion has set a cap on the video file size allowed on the site. Each file must no exceed 4 GB and no longer than 60 minutes.
Dailymotion was named the 31st most visited website in the world in 2012 for attracting 116 million visitors every month. It was founded in 2005 by Benjamin Bejbaum and Olivier Poitrey in Paris, France. Since then, it soared to greater heights and achieved tremendous success.
From France, Dailymotion has expanded to other countries and now has offices in London, New York City, San Francisco and Tokyo in Japan.
