About Foursquare

Foursquare is largely known as a mobile application which allows you to “Check In” to locations using the GPS in your smartphone device.Foursquare is a location-based social networking website for mobile devices, such as smartphones. Users “check in” at venues using a mobile website, text messaging or a device-specific application by selecting from a list of venues the application locates nearby. It uses game mechanics to give people points for checking in to locations. If you check in to a location often enough, you can become the Mayor of that location. If you check in often enough, you can oust the incumbent Mayor, one of the gamification elements designed to encourage people to check in often.
